Broadway in Austin Announces 2025-26 Season

Broadway in Austin recently unveiled its 2025–2026 season, and it’s stacked. Whether you’re a first-timer or a theater junkie, this lineup is a mix of award-winning new hits, throwback faves, and musicals that turn classics on their head. The season kicks off this fall at Bass Concert Hall and runs through summer 2026.

So, what’s coming? Here’s your fast pass to what’s on stage:

Kimberly Akimbo (Sept 30–Oct 5, 2025)

One of Broadway’s quirkiest and most heartfelt new shows. A teen girl with a rare aging condition navigates love, family chaos, and maybe some light crime. It cleaned up at the Tonys, winning five awards including Best Musical — this one’s a must-see.

The Outsiders (Oct 21–26, 2025)

Yes, that Outsiders. S.E. Hinton’s beloved novel-turned-film is now a raw, high-energy musical with a book by Adam Rapp with Justin Levine, music and lyrics by Texas’s own Jamestown Revival and Justin Levine. It just snagged Best Musical at the 2024 Tonys.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Dec 2–14, 2025)

The enchanted castle is back, and it’s more magical than ever with revamped sets, costumes, and all the songs you know by heart. Disney’s first North American production of the beloved musical in over 25 years. This enchanting and timeless tale, filled with the romance and grandeur audiences know and love, has been brought to life like never before.

The Sound of Music (Feb 3–8, 2026)

You’ve heard the songs since childhood, now see it live. This fresh production celebrates 65 years of the iconic film with lush sets and timeless storytelling. The Sound of Music has been one of our “favorite things” for years, and this Rodgers & Hammerstein classic isn’t just meant to be enjoyed - it’s meant to be shared.

The Great Gatsby (Mar 10–15, 2026)

Welcome to the roaring 20s! Fitzgerald’s classic gets a Broadway glow-up with a glamorous score, killer choreography, and all the drama of Gatsby’s doomed dream. The Tony Award®-winning new musical is an unforgettable journey of love, wealth and tragedy that brings the classic American novel to life on stage.

The Wiz (May 12–17, 2026)

You already know this one’s about to be the highlight of the season. This funk-filled reboot of the Wizard of Oz is back from Broadway, and it’s going to be amazing. In case you didn’t know, The Wiz changed the face of Broadway — from its iconic score packed with soul, gospel, rock, and 70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world. This dynamite infusion of ballet, jazz, and modern pop brings a whole new groove to easing on down the road!

& Juliet (July 14–19, 2026)

What if Juliet dumped the dagger and lived her best life instead? This pop-powered remix of Shakespeare’s tragedy features hits from Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and more. Big energy. Big fun. Break free of the balcony scene and get into this romantic comedy that proves there’s life after Romeo. The only thing tragic would be missing it.

Want to turn it into an 8-show season? Add Mamma Mia! (Apr 14–19, 2026)—because ABBA hits and sun-drenched Greek island vibes never go out of style.

Bonus Round: Season Add-Ons

SIX (Jan 20–25, 2026)

The six wives of Henry VIII get their own pop concert. Think Beyoncé meets British history. From Tudor Queens to Pop Icons, the SIX wives of Henry VIII take the microphone to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into a Euphoric Celebration of 21st century girl power! This new original musical is the global sensation that everyone is losing their head over!

Hadestown (Feb 20–22, 2026)

I’ve missed this show year after year, but this time will be different! Back by popular demand, this moody, mythic musical is coming back to Austin. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards® including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show from celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and original director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today... and always. HADESTOWN intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. won a ton of awards and feels more relevant every time you see it.
