Keeping Families Connected (K.F.C.), a Dallas-based non-profit organization, will present its second annual fashion show, Creation of Fashion, on May 19 at 7 p.m. at Howell and Dragon. The upscale event will be hosted by VH1’s Love & Hip Hop New York star Yandy Smith, along with a special guest appearance by Lifestyle Expert Extraordinaire Anita Hawkins.
Following a packed out inaugural show in 2017, Creation of Fashion will now feature a multi-layered fashion show produced by Willie Johnson, showcasing the designs of Ronald K. Jones of “RKJ Designs”, Pink Lucy, Black Kaviar, Joshwae, Nic Moore, J Pratt, Monshe, and a knock-out collab by Erica Dawn LeFlore’s EDW Designs and Charmaine Marshall. Guests will be able to mingle and enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while enjoying live entertainment during the event. Additional surprises will be in store, with proceeds from the event benefiting the Keeping Families Connected organization.
“We are so excited to bring back the Creation of Fashion designer show in order to raise funds for Keeping Families Connected,” Letitia Scott, founder of K.F.C. said. “We chose Yandy as our celebrity host for the show because she can closely relate to the mission of K.F.C., as she is dealing with the incarceration of her husband, and can also shed light and a unique perspective to the issues affecting family members who have loved ones that are in similar situations.”
Keeping Families Connected is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization on a mission to bridge the gap between children and their parent(s) during times of incarceration. The K.F.C. initiative helps families maintain frequent phone contact, access computer and internet resources for emails and letters, utilize dedicated transportation for visitations, participate in educational programs focusing on the development of social skills and positive behavior as well as acquire good financial habits and practices through personalized fundraising.
